ElevatingEveryHand:RedefiningtheDigitalNailSalon

How can we redefine the digital nail salon by allowing users to pivot effortlessly between curated collections & custom-built creativity?

As Founding Designer, I built the end-to-end digital identity for a handmade nail business. I developed a comprehensive design system and an intuitive e-commerce experience designed to simplify complex customization.

Goal

  1. Create a brand & design system (typography, color palette, & UI components)

  2. Build a reusable library of components so that as the business grows (e.g., adding new nail shapes or accessories), the website remains consistent and easy to update

  3. Design a clear entry point on the homepage that instantly splits the user journey into "Shop Ready-to-Wear" (speed) and "Commission Custom Set" (creativity)

  4. Develop a simple interface for users to prevent "choice paralysis" or user frustration during the the shopping experience

Visual Identity

To align with the founder’s vision of a 'delicate and handmade' aesthetic for the press-on nail line, I drew inspiration from ceramics.

I developed a mood board of ceramic artistry, then created a comprehensive color palette and brand identity derived from the research phase to be scaled across the UI.

Furthermore, to ground the brand in its origin story, I integrated visual elements representing the founders, ensuring a personal touch that translated seamlessly from the digital interface to physical packaging and logo design.

Wireframing

Following a competitive audit, I transitioned into low-fidelity wireframing to explore features that would address market gaps.

To elevate brand differentiation and reduce decision fatigue, I conceptualized and prototyped an early-stage "Style Quiz" that streamlines the user journey through personalized product recommendations.

I designed a motion-enhanced Nail Style Quiz to act as a "virtual consultant," guiding users through shape and length variations. A full high-fidelity prototype is being finalized to validate the end-to-end flow.

Following a stakeholder review with the co-founder, I transitioned into mid-fidelity wireframing to integrate the newly defined color theory, establishing a clear visual hierarchy with primary, secondary, and accent tones.

Final

The project has transitioned into the pre-launch phase, where I am overseeing the migration from high-fidelity mockups to functional e-commerce storefront.

Beyond the web interface, I am leading the creative direction for all product photography, editing, and social media content creation. To ensure a cohesive brand launch, I am collaborating closely with our Digital Marketer to align our content strategy with an established publishing schedule designed for optimal audience engagement.

To ensure a seamless end-to-end experience, the final interface and product gallery will be unveiled once the physical inventory, photography, and fulfillment systems are fully synced for launch.
